Activists launch tweet storm to free Ahmed Mansoor
Human rights activists and members of the media from around the world will participate in a Tweet (Twitter) Storm on Wednesday, September 20, six months after the arbitrary arrest of the Emirati human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor.
The tweet storm is to be kicked off at 5 pm at London time, 8 pm (UAE time), using the hashtag #FreeAhmed.
Human rights organizations declared the intention to join the campaign including Amnesty International and English Pen.
Ahmed Mansoor is a prominent human rights activist from the United Arab Emirates. In October 2015 he received the prestigious Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders. Ahmed Mansoor has been targeted and harassed for years for his human rights activism. He was arrested six months ago on 20 March 2017. He is still in prison in solitary confinement. Ahmed is married and has four small boys.
Ahmed Mansoor is a brave advocate for victims of human rights violations and prisoner of conscience. He always speaks out for others. Now he is a prisoner of conscience himself and needs our support.
This Wednesday let us globally unite on Twitter and request Ahmed Mansoor’s immediate and unconditional release! Join us!
